PREPARATION AND FEEDING WITH RED ALGAMAC

RED AlgaMac feeding protocols for Rotifers and Artemia are applied based on two different methodologies:

  1. Rotifers feeding application is based on applying a specific number of grams per million rotifers per day.

  2. Artemia feeding application is based on applying a specific number of grams to a volume (m3) of water containing X number of Artemia.

ROTIFER ENRICHMENT APPLICATION

Application: 90 grams Red AlgaMac powder (emulsified) per billion (1,000,000,000) rotifers per cubic meter applied in two 45 gram applications; one at the start and a second application after 4 hours. Rotifer density may be 1,000,000 rotifers (or more) per liter of seawater during enrichment

Total enrichment time: 6-8 hours at water temperature 25-30°C. Aerate vigorously so that oxygen levels >4.0 ppm (mg/l) during the 8 hours of enrichment. Harvest and rinse enriched

ARTEMIA ENRICHMENT APPLICATION

Mix measured amount of AlgaMac-3050 with either fresh or saltwater in electric blender for 1-2 minutes or until completely emulsified.  Flake particles break down into individual cells (6-8 microns).  when blending is complete, strain through sub-80 micron mesh to eliminate any foam.

Application: Artemia density may be 500,000 nauplii (or more) per liter of water or 500 million naup/m³. Add the prepared Red AlgaMac mixture to the enrichment tank in two applications each at a rate of 350 grams/m³ (500,000,000 naup/m³).

Aerate enrichment tank vigorously so that oxygen levels >4 ppm (mg/l) during the 24 hours of enrichment at water temperature 25-30°C. Harvest and rinse enriched Artemia nauplii after 24 hours.
